Resumo

Stable angina is a chronic clinical manifestation of coronary artery disease characterized by predictable chest pain triggered by physical exertion or emotional stress and relieved by rest or nitrates. Although it is not usually associated with acute myocardial damage, it is common to detect small associated elevations with the use of high-sensitivity markers. Diagnosis is based on the clinical history; a physical examination; and complementary tests including an ECG, blood tests, echocardiogram, and functional or anatomical ischemia tests. The estimation of the clinical probability weighted by risk factors for coronary artery disease guides the selection of these tests. Prognostic risk assessment includes left ventricular function. Treatment seeks to alleviate symptoms and prevent events through lifestyle changes, medical treatment, and, in some cases, revascularization. A personalized, patient-centered approach improves quality of life and clinical progress.
