Resumen
Chondylar hyperplasia is a pathologic condition characterized by a progressive and abnormal overgrowing of the chondylar cartilague of the mandible. Usually, chondylar hyperplasia requires a surgical treatment, and the most common treatment is chondylectomy, with or without other surgical procedures. We describe three cases of chondylar hyperplasia, two females and one male, treated by chondylectomy of the affected chondyle and replacement of the temporomandibular joint by a TMJ total prosthesis (Fossa-eminence prosthesis and chondylar prosthesis): The Christensen prosthesis.
