Abstract
Objetives: The aim of the study has been to analize the dijferent histopathologic aspects of oral leucoplakias and to investigate the histopathologic characteristics of epithelial displasias and its relation with the keratinization pattern and the conective tissue inflammatory response. Design: We designes a retrospective study of 55 cases with a clinical diagnosis of oral leucoplakia and divided the samples following criteria of epithelial displasia and conective response, as WHO propases. Results: Show that 19 cases (34%) were displasic. There has been a significative association between epithelial displasias and the intensity of the inflamation and parakeratosis. Loss of polarity of the basal cell, mithosis increase, cellular pleomorphism, increase in the size of the nucleoli and keratinization of grouped or isolated cells are more frequently associated to severe types of displasia. Conclusions: We consider these findings can be useful to diagnose and to determine a histological pattern in oral leucoplakias.
