Resumo

Schizophrenia and dissociation have been related since their definition and both areas have crossed binding and distancing periods throughout history. The joint study of both phenomena has relevance for the differential diagnose of those disorders, in order to discriminate their possible potentiation and potential etiopathogenic common factors, but, overall to plan therapeutic intervention, more specific considering the symptomatic profiles in schizophrenic patients. The identification and characterization of a subgroup with high dissociation levels, necessary to advance in the understanding of this phenomena, has not been undertook until today, not a clinical level nor psychopathological. In order to evaluate patients with different levels of severity and functional profiles, some people were recruited in various mental health services. In addition, the sample is formed by 123 patients that have been diagnosed for some type of schizophrenia. The result indicate that it exists a subgroup with higher dissociation levels and with different clinical and psychopathological features, that we have called dissociate subgroup schizophrenia. This subgroup is represented in all the schizophrenic spectrum, even though it is more predominant in the devices that care about patients with more refractory.
