Abstract
The myositis osificans is a pseudotumoral lesion of the soft tissues, often related to a previous injury young adults. Te heterotopic bone forrnations is mainly due to this condition. It is unfrecuently found in the axillofacial area. The authors report a typical case of myositis ossificans of the masseter muscle, and discuss sorne controversies that arise in the literature.
