Abstract

Numerous studies shows how effective are communication skills training in health professional. These studies relate the active listening skills with benefits in health care. The main aim of this study is to define and to classify the communication skills presented in a group of health professionals. To that end, we have elaborated a questionnaire with different problem situations and we have collected the production of communicative answers from 34 professionals belonging to the rehabilitation unit from the “Fundación Instituto San José” from Madrid. The percentages of production from different categories was compared. The results showed that the majority of the given answers can be classified as non-empathic versus the empathic, finding significant differences between them. (P< 0,05). The obtained results are consistent with the results found in the scientific literature.
