Resumen

Las miocardiopatías son un grupo de patologías heterogéneo que comparten la afectación del miocardio ventricular en ausencia de sobrecarga, enfermedad coronaria, valvular o congénita que la justifique, y se pueden clasificar según su fenotipo. La miocardiopatía hipertrófica se define por un aumento del grosor parietal del ventrículo izquierdo y asocia con frecuencia una obstrucción del tracto de salida y movimiento anterior sistólico de la válvula mitral. La muerte súbita puede ser uno de los síntomas de esta enfermedad y la estratificación de riesgo es de vital importancia para decidir la necesidad de implantar un dispositivo de desfibrilación automática, cuya aplicación ha sido la principal causa de reducción de mortalidad en estos pacientes en las últimas décadas.
