Resumen
Heinrich Zangger, Professor at the Zurich University, is mainly remembered as companion and friend of Albert Einstein. The abundant correspondence between the two men reveals illuminating aspects of Einsteins´s scientific thought. However, is less known that Zangger saved on several occasions the life of the physicist (a rescue from carbon monoxide poisoning, food supply during World War I) and ensured the economies and health needs of the rest of the Einstein family: his first wife Mileva and his sons Hans Albert and Eduard. In addition, Zangger was an extraordinary man who deserves also tribute for his pioneering contributions in the field of occupational diseases like silicosis and lead poisoning, and Emergency and Disasters Medicine, for his studies of Health and Law, as well as humanitarian work in the Red Cross.
