Abstract

Objective. Bibliometric study of the scientific matters in Galicia Clínica during the period 1930-1989. Methods. We analyzed from a bibliometric perspective the scientific contents of Galicia Clínica, classified acording the Major Diagnostic Categories of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9CM). In this analysis not strictly scientific news, without signature, or related to social-organizative aspects were excluded. Results. There were 5889 medical news of which 3664 titles were scientific articles. Multidisciplinarity was widely observed but quantitative displacement of the subjects was seen in more modern times, with increment in those related with Circulatory and Blood-Immunology systems and decrement in Endocrinology. Infectious matters maintained high presence all the period throughout. Outstanding scientific personalities (Marañón, Rof- Carballo, Egas-Moniz, etc.) collaborated from the beginning. Conclusions. Galicia Clínica constituted a respected and powerful instrument of scientific and social communication for the Medicine in Galicia. To a such accreditation outstanding scientific personalities contributed from the first moment.
