Resumo

Objectives: To perform a study about the frequency of using clopidogrel associated with proton-pump inhibitors (PPI) in the common clinical practice. Method: Cross-sectional study in 5 primary care units from Galicia. Results: The prevalence in the use of clopidogrel is 0.92%, with a 95% confidence interval (CI 95%) from 0.78 to 1.06. 51.33% (CI 95% 41.67-60.99) is using a PPI in concomitant fashion, out of which 48.28% (CI 95% 34.55-62) is omeprazole. 33.33% of them (CI 95% 41.67-60.99) suffer from an acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The percentage of users in combination with PPI for patients with A CS is 66.67%, and 35.62% for other diagnostics (OR CI95% 3.61 (1.65-7.91), p= 0.002). Conclusions: Half of clopidogrel consumers use it in association with a PPI, being more frequent in patients with ACS, which represent a third of total consumers
