Resumen
The family Agyrtidae Thomson, 1859 (Coleoptera) in the Iberian Peninsula. The current state of knowledge of the family Agyrtidae Thomson, 1859 in the Iberian Peninsula is analyzed in this paper. Only two species of this family have been cited in a more or less accurate way for the Iberian Peninsula: Necrophilus subterraneus (Dahl, 1807) and Agyrtes bicolor Laporte, 1840. Nevertheless, only N. subterraneus has been confirmed because of the existence of two specimens respectively deposited in the Museu de Zoologia of Barcelona and Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales of Madrid. The age of the captures and the fact that no more captures have been confirmed leave open all the theories on the true status of this species in the Iberian Peninsula. Regarding A. bicolor, no Iberian specimens or records seem to exist as far as could be revised, and its occurrence is only a theoretical possibility for reasons of geographical proximity.
