Acumulación en el hogar: síntoma, significante y modo de proceder

Abstract

On certain occasions some patients who are admitted to the psychiatric rehabilitation unit of a hospital have a motivated admittance because their psychic disorder drift also extends to the limits of their own house with serious consequences on their quality of life. This article arises from an incurable curiosity which tries to understand by visiting the different homes the reasons and consequences which unleash the behaviour that disorganizes the environment where the patient protects himself. It is a community service carried out in a span of ten years with the intention of knowing the reasons for that drift and the relationship that some humans establish with the objects, moving the patients account to the context of his environment through the observer’s subjective view. Often, any accumulation which is harmful to the citizen is labelled as Diogenes syndrome. The study proves that considered cases have nothing to do with the poor reference labelled and made of what the philosopher theorized about and proved. The study also tries to theorize on a clearly practical experience which other professionals can make use of. It is information collected at home which will provide relevant information with the active participation of the patient and one aim: To make a dangerous or inhospitable place a habitable space again.
