Abstract

The collection of Silphidae (Coleoptera) from continental Africa of the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (CSIC) of Madrid is revised. 159 specimens, mostly collected in the first half of the XXth century, belonging to the following species: Nicrophorus humator (Gleditsch, 1767); Silpha olivieri Bedel, 1887; Silpha puncticollis Lucas, 1846; Silpha tristis Illiger, 1798; Thanatophilus micans (Fabricius, 1794); Thanatophilus ruficornis (Küster, 1851), and Thanatophilus sinuatus (Fabricius, 1775) are studied. These specimens, mostly from Morocco, were undetermined and remained unpublished.
