Resumo

The doctor Darío Álvarez Limeses was a leading general practitioner in the first third of the 20th century. His professional practice was carried out in Tui where he also maintained an important sociocultural activity. In 1918 he contributed, with colleagues of the stature of Gregorio Marañón or Gustavo Pittaluga, in the writing of a reference monograph for the medical class on the epidemic of influenza that at that time was ravaging the world. His political commitment led him to suffer the most serious consequences of the military uprising of 1936.
