Resumo

We have studied 19 variables in 199 inpatiens diagnosed of schizophrenia from 1977 to 1979 and from 1990 to 1992. In order to evaluate the use made by schizophrenics of the Mental Health Services developed for the care and treatment of drugs-abusers, and enenquiry was made among 90 patients treated in them. The author conclude: first, alcohol has been replace by illegal drugsamong schizophrenics; second, schizophrenics with history of drug abuse present more positive and negative symptomatology than schizophrenics who do not use drugs.
