Schwannoma: diagnóstico inusual de tumoración lingual

Resumen

Schwannomas are benign, slow-growing tumors, and when they appear on the tongue, they are mostly asymptomatic. Only when they acquire a larger size they usually produce associated clinic, depending on its size and location, such as dysphagia and odynophagia, foreign body sensation and even dyspnea. In this article we present the case of a young patient with Schwannoma of the lingual base, who was sent by his Primary Care physician to our Department after detecting the lingual tumor casually during a routine examination,remaining the patient asymptomatic all the time. A Complete surgical removal of the tumor, under general anesthesia was made. There were not any postoperative complications.
