Abstract
Burns are skin injures or in other tissues that occurs by different agents: physical, chemical or biological ones. They entail a public health problem in the paediatric age, as it is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in childhood. Burns are injuries to the skin or other tissues that are produced by different agents, whether physical, chemical or biological. They constitute a public health problem in pediatric age, since it is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in childhood. For proper care, burns must be classified, according to different criteria, such as: their extension, depth and location, taking into account the differential characteristics of children. Immediate treatment of the injury is very important, acting according to the causative agent. In children, the most frequent burns are thermal ones, in which a profuse washing of the injury will be carried out immediately, removing the clothes that are not attached, later covering the injuries. For subsequent treatment, individual actions will be taken according to the characteristics of the injury, the age of the child and the causative agent. Their prevention is essential, avoiding risks in the area where they most frequently occur, at home and more specifically the kitchen and bathroom.
