Abstract

This biographical story is built based on the experiences, feelings and opinions lived throughout Nieves's professional career. She has been a nurse in the tuberculosis unit (UTB) for more than 40 years and through her gaze we can discover how these specialized centers have evolved over the years. The qualitative methodology used has allowed me to contextualize the narration from a holistic perspective in order to understand reality as the informant has experienced it, so it will simultaneously offer us the opportunity to visualize a retrospective of nursing work as well as of the social stigma caused by the disease and caring for those who suffer from it.
