Resumo

Total hip replacement is probably the most successful surgical technique within orthopedic surgery, despite this it is foreseeable that some patients will require revision of their implant over time. These facts make it necessary to adopt a cost-effective model for long-term clinical monitoring and control of patients and their implants. Generally, the clinical reviews carried out tend to have an annual frequency, which seems to constitute an unnecessary action due to its low effectiveness in detecting cases that require an action derived from their visit (around 0.6%) and a significant financial burden. We carried out a systematic review of the last ten years around: "hip arthroplasty follow up recommendations" and "total hip replacement recommendations for follow-up", with a proposal for follow-up planning.
