Abstract

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, in such a way that it affects the individual depending on the affected area. The objective is to determine the level of fear of movement or kinesiophobia, levels of depression and state of foot health in patients with multiple sclerosis, comparing them with healthy controls. Methods: three observational and cross-sectional studies were carried out, where the cases are people suffering from multiple sclerosis and the controls are healthy people to determine different factors that may be linked to the disease based on fear of movement or kinesiophobia with the 11-item Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (I), the impact of depression measured with the Beck Depression Inventory (II) and Foot Health with the Foot Health Status Questionnaire (III). Results: people with multiple sclerosis presented significant differences in the three studies: greater fear of movement and physical activity (I), higher levels of depression in all BDI ranges (II) and worse general and foot health, negatively affecting to physical activity, vitality and vigor (III). Conclusions: in patients with multiple sclerosis there is an increase in fear of mobility, high levels of depression and a worse state of foot health and quality of life
