Consideraciones éticas sobre la obligatoriedad de la vacuna del Covid-19 en profesionales sanitarios. Revisión narrativa

Abstract

Introduction: The mandatory nature of a vaccine is justified as a public health measure that aims to protect the population from a pandemic. However, these types of policies generate conflicts that should be studied to see their effectiveness. Objective: Describe the ethical-legal considerations related to mandatory vaccination policies against SARS-CoV-2 in healthcare professionals. Methodology: A narrative bibliographic review was carried out in the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Coronavirus Research Database. Selection criteria were established and the PRISMA flow chart was followed. Results: 19 articles were reviewed in depth, establishing as the main ethical-legal argument the loss of autonomy of health personnel for the greater good and application of the principle of non-maleficence (ethics of maximums). Conclusions: scientific evidence suggests that mandatory vaccination is applicable according to the ethics of minimums or justice, and can only be ethically justifiable when promotional measures have been exhausted. Health personnel must have moral responsibility (solidarity).
