Abstract

Actinic cheilitis is a precancerous lesion with a higher than normal risk of progression to squamous cell carcinoma. The histopathology is characterized by epithelial atrophy and basophilic collagen degeneration, with sporadic signs of displasia. lt is important to establish the differential diagnosis with other non precancerous cheilitis. The therapeutic procedure íncludes preventive measures against solar exposure and cheilectomy.
