Abstract

:We present the case of a 53-year-old patient who consulted due to symptoms suggestive of acute appendicitis. She underwent urgent surgery and a perforated diverticulum, was observed in the cecum, adjacent to the ileo-cecal valve. Other uncomplicated colonic diverticula were also identified, so an ileocecal resection was performed. Right colonic diverticulosis is a rare entity (incidence of 1-5%) with a complication rate of 10%. The objective of presenting this case was to remember that there are rare pathologies that can easily be confused with more frequent diagnoses.
