Abstract
Infectious mononucleosis is a viral infection usually caused by Epstein-Barr virus. Typical symtomps of infectious mononucleosis include fever, tonsillopharryngitis, neck lymphadenopathy and splenomegaly. However, this presentation will show a less common clinical feature: periorbital oedema known as Hoagland sign. Sometimes it can be the first manifestation of the disease. That is why it is important to know it and distinguish from cellulitis, angio-oedema, allergic reaction or nephrotic syndrome.
